IriTech, Inc. is one of the very few companies in the world that holds international patents for an Iris Identification algorithm and systems. IriTech's unique patented iris identification technology is based on a flexible, "variable multi-sector method" of analysis. One of the key differentiators of the IriTech technology is that it only requires a small portion of the visible iris area for registration and an even smaller portion for identification. This could be a deciding advantage for use with certain ethnic populations or in the many situations where input images are taken in adverse conditions and result in less than optimal imagesfor identification.
What is also impressive, besides our ability to compare poorly captured images, is IriTech's proficency in analyzing and comparing color images. Recently IriTech was tested on the UBIRIS database which uses a standard color camera for image capture, and even in the color spectrum IriTech achieved near perfect accuracy. IriTech's ability to work with color images opens up new exciting opportunities for iris applications. For example, something as simple and cheap as a camera phone could be used for iris capture. In addition to the UBIRIS database, IriTech also tested with the CASIA and ICE databases, which used an Oki and LG camera respectively, and even though they used different camera types, IriTech still achieved superior accuracy with both these databases. An overview of all these databases as well as the IriTech system can be found here. Besides iris identification technology, IriTech has also developed its own face identification and camera technologies. The iris and face technology systems can be used independently or simultaneously to enhance reliability and accuracy. IriTech's software, hardware and camera technologies are ready to be deployed on diverse platforms. IriTech's software is designed for scalability and high performance--from a single stand-lone application, to large organizations' networks to national border control applications involving huge databases. IriTech's software can be deployed on embedded systems, PCs, workstations, or server farms with diverse operating systems. It is compatible with embedded OS, WindowsTM, UNIX, or Linux. The modular design of IriTech's software enables developers, be they application developers or large scalesystems integrators, to easily deploy the technology in a variety of business contexts. IriTech's software adheres tothe BioAPI protocol and the ANSI INCITS 379 Iris Image Interchange Formats which are rapidly becoming world standards. Although IriTech's software can beused with any hardware platform and camera system, the company also offers its own hardware and camera system to be used as a bundled system for customer convenience. At the forefront of IriTech's hardware technology is an embedded system based on DSP technology. IriTech's Embedded System Iris642 features a small, lightweight design with Ethernet connectivity that makes it an ideal hardware platform for versatile operations. IriTech's camera technology is based on its patent-pending stereo camera system that can capture iris and face images at the same time. The system is differentiated by its face positioning technology and large focal depth that make it extremely reliable and easy to use while producing crisp, quality images. The system comes equipped with IriTech's high performance, real-time, image capturing module that is also complaint with biometric standards. |
