Dr. Daehoon Kim
Founder and CEO
Daehoon Kim holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He was previously a Research Associate at the Mayo Clinic in the USA and a Principal Research Scientist at the Korean Institute of Science and Technology. His research activities involved the iris and signal processing.
Daehoon soon focused on the emerging iris recognition field, where he is widely recognized as an industry pioneer. He founded IriTech in 2000 as a way to advance iris technology with an advanced algorithm he helped create and patent. He is an active member of the INCITS (International Committee for International Technology Standards) Task Group on Biometric Data Interchange Formats. He has played an instrumental role in accelerating the development of critical biometric consensus standards for evolving US and international security systems.
